The Exception to the Rule (The Improbable Meet-Cute #1)

The Exception to the Rule

On February 14, an accidental email to a stranger opens the door to an unexpected relationship in a captivating short story by the New York Times bestselling authors of The Unhoneymooners. One typo, and a boy and girl connect by chance. Wishing each other a happy Valentine’s Day isn’t the end. In fact, it becomes a friendly annual tradition—with rules: no pics, no real names, nothing too personal. As years pass, the rules for their email “dates” are…

I have been in a kind of a slump since FOREVER. I would read books here and there not really finishing anything even if they are SO GOOD and enjoyable. I think my attention span is getting worse as I get older and the only thing that seems to get me going at it are reading short novels, like The Improbably Meet-Cute series.

The series was written by various romance authors and are not connected in any way so it’s okay to read them out of order. However, that is something I cannot do as I MUST read them in the order they were given. With the exception of the first two book. Yes, I am chaotic.

So I read book 2 first because I thought that was the first one and read this book second. It took me a few pages of going back and forth because I kept forgetting who was who.

The book was written in alternating email exchanges, which reminded me of Rainbow Rowell’s Attachments. No name was mentioned until later, so I had to pay attention to the email addresses used to keep up. The story was sweet and nice and made me feel good. Since it’s short, I finished it in one night. The reveal had me smiling and the way it ended sets up a great start for a beautiful love story.

I rate this meet cute a 3.5.
