Workout Log – Aug. 19



Yesterday morning I woke up at 7:30am to go to the gym. I was having second thoughts because I knew I was going to be late but kind of forced myself to get up because I needed this. There’s an 8am zumba class and I was late by 30 minutes. I still joined the group and had a great time working out by dancing.

After the class I took on the elliptical machine for 20 minutes. The first time I used that machine, I couldn’t even last 10 minutes! I wanted to quit and move on to the treadmill but the coach convinced me otherwise. I thought I’d gradually increase the time spent on it as I get used to it over time. I was told to maintain a stride not lower than 120 and felt so proud of myself when I could achieve 130-140 strides per minute this morning.

I think the cool down stride brought my average down in the end.

I was also told to lift weights after a cardio workout so I used some machines to tone my muscles. I used the leg extension/curl and the inner/outer thigh machine thingy. Yes, I’m not sure how to call it. For now, I’m using 40lbs. weights and doing 2 sets of 15. There’s this other equipment I use, one the coach taught me how to use, where I pull the weights to my chest while pulling my knee up. HOW TO DESCRIBE? Anyway, I’m also doing 2 sets of 15 for each leg.

I also did planking, push-ups, crunches, and squats following this guide I got off from The Fitness Café. I’m not good with challenges so I’m not expecting to accomplish this in 30 days but it is a good guide for me to follow.

My current goal is to go to the gym at least 4 times a week. I want to attend all the morning classes from Monday to Friday but I’m still working on better sleeping habits. My current problem is waking up at 7-8am when I go to sleep at around 1-2am. XD
