The Past (2011-2020)

Let’s Get Caught Up

Hello world!
First post for 2013! YAY!!!

I’ve been trying to get out of my blogging hiatus since September, there are drafts in my account, something I don’t normally do but realized that when thoughts come in, I should write them down.

Back in November I joined NaNoWriMo. Even I was surprised. I’m not a writer, I don’t and haven’t even written anything, not even creative writing in high school, but I thought it would be good to try something new and learn something out of it. I got to attend the first write-in and met some aspiring writers, most of who are experienced writers. They encouraged me to write anything down, whatever it was, and refrain from editing. NaNoWriMo is all about writing your first draft anyway.

I didn’t do well in the writing department. I’m more of a reader than a writer but I still want to give it a try. I wrote a couple of paragraphs for 3 different plots and can’t seem to figure out how to go through with it. It’s far from my mind at the moment, there are other things going on in my life – which brings me to my new job…

Back in July I sent my resume to Gerry’s Grill and got called for an interview. To make the long story short (believe me, it’s a long story), I was hired as a Store Marketing Coordinator. Oh yes, a Computer Science graduate working in marketing. Hahahaha! I started in-store training in the Greenbelt branch last November and enjoyed every bit of it. I met new people and made new friends, and working in the restaurant felt like playing Diner Dash.

In December, I trained in the marketing office for two weeks. It was mostly theoretical and there were times when I felt lost but I kept my head up and told myself that I could do this. I started working in the store (Bluewave, Macapagal branch) two weeks before Christmas. Since it was the Christmas season, we had a lot of functions/events and I really enjoyed working on those. Focusing on events made no room for the other aspects of my job, so I was backlogged with paperworks and stuff.

I am loving my job so far, despite the minimum pay and the stress, I just don’t let it get to me. I have new friends and I even go out and “party”, something I haven’t done in a long time. Yay~

With the new job, I don’t get to read as much as I used to. I read a total of 55 books in 2012 (45 books, 10 novellas) and I’m so proud of myself. I set the goal of reading 50 books for 2013 as well. I considered setting it at a lower number but thought against it, and I didn’t exactly want to set it higher, I don’t have the time as I used to.

The downside to having a job is having less time to do the things I love, (I wake up, go to work, come home, head straight to bed), but I also love having this job. It gives my life purpose and every day is a challenge.

I’ll try to blog as much as i can. There’s so much I want to write about, things I want to look back to and remember, but I don’t want to pour them all out in one go. So I’ll leave with a promise of coming back, and hopefully post short stories I’ll come up with.
