May Goals: Organize and Declutter

Last month’s goal setting has encouraged me to do more than what I would normally do. It gave me the drive to keep working on the things that needed attention in my life. Listing my achievements have also inspired me to keep going and just keep striving to be better and do better. While all my goals were set up at the start of the year, I realized that having a monthly focused breakdown will actually help me accomplish more than trying to do them all at the same time.

So I’m a week late (again) for this list but I’ve given this some thought before April ended. Last month’s productivity made me feel so good about myself and I know I can keep it up now that I’ve got a momentum. It made me feel like I’m doing such a good job at adulting at 33.

May Goal: Organized and Decluttered

Last week was pretty hectic for me. I spent most of the days cleaning up and moving stuff around because I offered to host our photoshoot session at my place. It added pressure to get things sorted out before Sunday. That makes it a great start for my May goals, right? There’s still a lot of things to do but the house was presentable enough to entertain guests.

I live in a small studio apartment with 5 dogs. We rarely get visitors or invite people over because of the dogs. We also don’t have as much stuff as we used to, but there’s still a lot of decluttering to be done. To help me sort things out, I made a list of things to do and where I want to put the furniture. I used to just try to remember things, fooling myself into believing I could remember it all, but I finally gave in and accepted that my memory kinda sucks.

So that’s what my May looks like. Cleaning and decluttering and organizing. What about you? What do you plan to accomplish this month?

  1. I only have 3 dogs and a cat in a house and I can’t even imagine trying to keep a studio with 5 dogs clean and organized! Super impressive and inspiring. Keeping my space decluttered is something that has really helped me mental health, so I know how important it can be!

  2. I am going to work on reorganizing my office once the school year ends! If I try to do it now, I will get too lost!

  3. We have a big project this month of taking down a shed that has halfway fell in! It will be a challenge, but I think we can handle it!

    1. We don’t have spring here but I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about spring cleaning. That’s good though! I read somewhere it should be done annually but I don’t. LOL this is the beginning for me.

  4. Setting goals each month is a great idea! I tend to get lost in my ideas and goals because I don’t clearly set them! Thank you for sharing this 🙂

  5. I have two really large goals I am focusing on this month. My first one is saving as much money as I can, and second is cleaning up my room + house. I want to declutter and unattach myself from materialistic items.

  6. My May goals were do donate to the local animal rescue & a abuse shelter for my birthday! I took a big box filled with cat food to the rescue the day before my birthday and I have two big boxes of clothes to take to a shelter once I get ahold of the one closet to me.

Nickle, You are inspiring! My May is somewhat like your s- decluttering and organizing. Except for me, we are doing so to move and relocate across the country. :-D. It feels good to be productive and purge, making room for our new life. Blessings and thank you for sharing your journey <3 , XoXo Evelyn, Path of Presence

  8. This is my goal
Too! We are moving soon and I need to go through my house! So crazy because we just moved 6 months ago and we still have clutter! 🤯

  9. My goals for May is to support my daughter I whatever so she can accomplish her goal of moving on to the other leg of her second degree.

  10. I’m currently doing the same this month! Going through every room and making three piles: keep, donate, trash. We’ve got a new baby coming in August so I’m trying to get it all done before she comes!
