Have you ever heard about a New York and Filipino Restaurant Fusion?
Apparently, the hotel and casino integrated establishment Resorts World Manila (RWM) decided to bet on this new venture and cater to the taste of locals who want to know what it’s like to eat grub that New Yorkers consume on a daily basis.
The playfully named NYPD (New York Pinoy Deli) is the latest restaurant to join RWM’s array of bistros inside its 4-storey recreational facility. NYPD’s concept is diner food that’s elevated by fancy food plating and a touch of Filipino flair. So instead of offering things like New York’s Angus burger or the classic spaghetti and meatballs, the restaurant serves things like Chorizo Burger or Tinapa Spaghetti.
NYPD also offers things like Laing lasagna, Caldereta Fettuccine, Pulled Lechon Kawali, and Pan De Sal Trilogy to its diners.
Resorts World Manila is part of the casino brand Genting Group, a company that operates in a number of countries including Las Vegas, Singapore, and the UK. Genting Group has been varying their offerings for the past couple of years due to the fact that the global casino business is currently facing a crisis and dwindling profits. Since the online gaming industry began making an impact on the industry, thanks to many websites become mobile-friendly and hosting commercially-licensed games bearing the design of comic book icons that are appreciated by the younger demographic, brick-and-mortar casinos have been impacted greatly. So as a way to offset their losses from their competition, these land-based gaming facilities have upped the ante by installing newly-conceptualized restaurants and live entertainment that online gaming providers cannot offer to their customers.
