Yeeaaaah… This post is about 3 months late. I meant to write it in September but got a little busy and writing an article like this takes time and research. Better late than never. Besides, I’m only “late” based on TV junkie standards, otherwise, there are still a lot of people who haven’t seen or even heard of these shows until they’ve made enough buzz. ^_^
In this post, I’m only covering shows that premiered in September. I’m sure there are a lot of them, but the ones in my list are the ones that I’ve been waiting for, or have heard of, that caught my attention. If you have other recommendations, feel free to leave a comment. 😉
I use EpisodeCalendar to keep track of my TV shows. I really find it very helpful. Let’s begin…
Premiered Sept. 16 on Fox.
Starring Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones
Ichabod Crane is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers.
I am not familiar with the story of Sleepy Hollow. I didn’t see the movie version with Johnny Depp, but all I know is there’s a headless horseman involved. So far, this show has been awesome. Full of intrigue and mystery. There’s magic/witchcraft involved, a topic that I am most interested in. Still catching up with the season, there’s more to look out for in Sleepy Hollow.
Premiered Sept. 23 on NBC.
Starring James Spader and Megan Boone.
Former government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) has eluded capture for decades. But he suddenly surrenders to the FBI with an offer to help catch a terrorist under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone), a young FBI profiler who’s just barely out of Quantico.
I’ve only seen two episodes since it aired but I think it’s a good show and it seems promising. It’s not as interesting as I’d hope though, it didn’t make my ‘priority’ list. But I’m still keeping it on my list.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Premiered Sept. 24 on ABC.
Starring Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet.
The missions of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
Probably the most awaited show this fall, it starts after the events in the movie The Avengers. Phil Coulson is alive! That is part of the mystery of the series, the secret of how he is alive after he was killed in the movie. Dundundun…
Ming-Na Wen is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I love Agent May. She’s so badass. Skye is annoying but there is also a mystery from her past that I think is part of a bigger picture. I’m just so excited for this show. I hope there’s a cameo from The Avengers. Wouldn’t that be awesome?
Premiered Sept. 27 on CBS.
Starring Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar
Follows Zach Cropper, a confident and charming copywriter at an ad agency run by Simon and his daughter, Sydney.
I wanted so bad to like this show because it’s Robin Williams and I love him. Unfortunately, the pilot was…disappointing. I didn’t find anything funny in it. I’m still keeping it on my list though because I want to give it another chance. I’ll watch a couple more episodes before dropping it forever.
Premiered Sept. 28 on BBC One.
Starring Mark Addy, Jack Donnelly, Robert Emms.
Far from home, Jason washes up on the shores of the ancient and mysterious city of Atlantis.
An online friend said it’s like Merlin, but gayer. And I totally agree. After two episodes, I’m in! Although I haven’t watched past that yet, this is definitely a keeper. I am so into fantasy shows like these even if the effects are a bit crappy. The mystery about Jason’s origin is enough to keep me intrigued. However, Hercules? What? Hahaha! What a joke. 😐
Masters of Sex.
Premiered Sept. 29 on Showtime.
Starring Michael Sheen, Lizzy Caplan, Caitlin FitzGerald.
Drama about the pioneers of the science of human sexuality whose research touched off the sexual revolution.
Ah Lizzy Caplan. The first time I took notice of her was in True Blood.
I watched the pilot three weeks after it aired. I think it is interesting and educational. Based on the true story, as far as I know. Will try to keep up with this show soon.
Premiered Sept. 30 on ABC.
Starring Hannah Ware, Henry Thomas, Wendy Moniz
Centers on Sara, a beautiful but unhappily married female photographer who begins a torrid affair with Jack, a lawyer for a powerful family.
I have no idea how this made my list. Guess I’m such a junkie that I’ll try to watch any new show that comes out. The pilot was okay. I’m just not into it as I thought I would when I first read the synopsis. I feel like this will be cancelled soon. It has that lame plot vibe innit. :\
So that makes up my September Fall TV Premiere. Do you follow there shows too or are you just learning about them now? Share your thoughts. 😉
