Taking Gifting to the Next Level
Christmas is only a couple of months away. Some people have already bought gifts for their loved ones, while others wait for their Christmas bonuses or mall sales to purchase the perfect gift. I for one started buying gifts for some of my godchildren. My goal this year is to encourage them to read more. And then there’s mom. I don’t know what I’ll get her yet, but in a perfect world where I could afford to buy anything, I know exactly what I would get her.
While we’re on the subject, let’s pretend I have overflowing cash at my disposal. Even if we’re playing pretend, let’s still keep things realistic. Here are some things I would spend on.
What is your Christmas wish list for yourself?
Let’s go through the needs first. At the top of my head, I need a bookshelf. The current one I’m using isn’t ideal for books but it’s okay and it’s almost full. I already saw one in a furniture shop near our place which I plan on buying next month.
Other things I need are boxer shorts and shorts for going out. I used to be a pants only kind of girl, but with the heat we’re experiencing, I rarely wear pants anymore. I’ve even started wearing skirts! As for the boxer shorts, they’re the only thing I wear at home because they’re comfortable. The reason this made my wishlist is because my clothes are usually gifted or hand-me-downs. I don’t shop for clothes unless I really need to.
Bordering between needs and wants is a new refrigerator. The one we currently have is smaller than our previous fridge. The freezer is small and accumulates ice quickly. Plus, when I do the grocery shopping, it runs out of space, not that I bought a lot, but it is really small.
We’re now down to materialistic wants. I want a Smart TV. It doesn’t have to be a big one, but if I have the money I would definitely get a big one. I also want either a new smartphone, a tablet, a decent camera, or all of them!
What are your Christmas gift ideas for your loved ones this year?
For my mom, I would get her any washing machine she wants. Doing the laundry is like her therapy and she has managed to break a lot of machines all throughout the years. While it would benefit us all in the house, I’d also get her a split-type air condition unit.
For my furbabies, I will give them cute dog beds and a small dog house, so they will stop sleeping on my bed. But I bet it wouldn’t matter because they will always move to our bed once we go to sleep. I’ll also get a stroller so I can take them with me to the mall.
For my godchildren, as previously mentioned, the best gift I could give them is the gift of knowledge. I would want to encourage them to read. Here are some books I’d want to gift them:
How do you plan to give back to others this Christmas?
I’ve been following some volunteer groups in Facebook for the past few months and have considered volunteering in some activities. I’m sure there would be a lot of opportunities this season, I just have to make time for them.
Another way of giving back is to participate with the SM Cares Bears of Joy campaign. For only P200, you would get 1 bear while another will be donated to a child from various orphanages and charitable institutions. It’s a simple gesture of showing orphaned kids that we care.
