Pregnant Bitches and The Day One of Them Gave Birth

Kylie and Cyndi both got pregnant. We knew the latter was a possibility since mom caught her and MJ doing the deed, but we were surprised when the signs of pregnancy were visible on Kylie a few weeks after her period.

Cyndi wants a belly rub from Kendo.

Kylie, days before she gave birth.

Let’s just skip to the part where Kylie gave birth on Friday morning (Sept. 9), it was fortunate that my mom arrived that afternoon because i had to leave for Mia‘s taping at GMA7.

On Thursday evening, i sensed that she was giving birth soon. She was restless, panting, and the puppies in her tummy were moving. It reminded me of that episode of Fringe with the baby growing so fast, or that alien movie which i think was called Alien (if i’m not mistaken). Anyway, I went to sleep pretty late, maybe 1 or 2am, then at one point i wake up because i felt wetness in my face. I opened the light and i realized that Kylie’s water bag broke while she was on my pillow, i tried to make her move but she was still, that’s when i saw two puppy paws sticking out of her vagina. I moved her to the dog bed where i prepared a towel to receive her delivery. She had a hard time pushing the first puppy out, i tried helping her by pulling the sac a bit but it was slippery and i was afraid to pull harder because i might tear the puppy apart. You know how in movies when someone’s giving birth you tell them to push and you find yourself pushing too? That’s what happened to me, i was talking to my dog like it was a human being, telling her to push and giving her support, telling her it’s going to be okay.. Then i noticed i was holding my breath and getting ready to push. Hahaha! It was like she understood what i was doing, she looked at me and pushed the same time i tell her to. It was amazing. After about 3 minutes of trying to get the first puppy out, we were successful, she ripped the sac open and i tried to cut the umbilical chord while she was eating the thing. I was relieved, relieved that i didn’t have to take her to the vet (i had no money for surgery) and that we had an hour till the next one comes out. While every thing was happening, i was able to take pictures, tweet, and post in Facebook. Hahaha!

First puppy, born 6:15am, male

First meal. XD

Second puppy, born 7:20am, female.
Still in the sac.

Yay siblings!

20 minutes later, third puppy comes out, male!

Aren’t they cute?

I like this photo because one of the puppies stuck on the nipple
even after Kylie turned.

By 8:25am, fourth puppy, which if female, was born.

Kylie had a hard time cutting the chord so i had to help her after a while.

I was surprised when puppy number 5 came out 10 minutes after. Male.

Doesn’t she look happy? XD

If you’re concerned about why i took photos first before helping her, believe me, i tried, but she’s too intent on eating the sac and the chord, i would have had to break her neck to stop her from doing so. Not to worry, every one is doing well at the moment, the puppies seem healthy, except for the fourth puppy who has colds right now but i already took them to the vet this afternoon and got medicine for her and Kylie.

It is a wonderful experience to help bring a life to this world. The puppies are cute and i have 2-3 months before we have to give them up. That “talk” is reserved for another post, one where i think would involve tears.

Kylie is a wonderful mum, she rarely leaves her puppies’ side and she always feeds and grooms them. Which makes it harder to think about separating them. We want to keep them all but we don’t have the space or money to take care of everyone. Maybe some day we can keep future puppies with us.

In a couple of days, Cyndi will give birth to maybe 4 or more puppies. I’m more prepared now. 🙂
