my thoughts on Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao won his fight against DeLa Hoya today. I know there are people who don’t like him for different reasons. Some just don’t like him, others hate “what he has become”. I respect everyone’s opinion. I just want to share my thoughts. I don’t have to please anybody and so do you. I’m not expecting you to understand but what I will write here are just my experiences with the short times I have had with Manny.

My mom is a flight attendant and has had local and foreign celebrities as her passengers. She told me about Manny the first time he was on the same plane with her. She said she felt like this man is going to be big someday and so she took the opportunity to have her picture taken with him. If I’m right, that was 2003(?)

Anyway, over the years, mom communicates with Manny or Jinky from time to time. She is considered a friend because she has been nothing but. Not because he’s rich and famous but mom has befriended them even before Manny was famous.

me and Manny Pacquiao 2008 It wasn’t only till July 2008 that I met him face to face. It was on his victory party at Gov. Chavit’s house. Manny is really nice, just as what my mom has told me. He’s also a joker. He likes to joke a lot which people mistake as being arrogant. He tries to speak in English because he wants to speak better. Practice makes perfect. And yet, people still see that as being a trying hard, arrogant bastard.

Everyone is arrogant from time to time. And with Manny’s achievements, I think he has the right to be arrogant. He has brought a lot of glory for the country and I think it’s fair enough to let him be proud of it.

He’s just a person like everyone else. He’s just good at what he does and he deserves all that he has today. If you hate him because he’s arrogant, hate the people around him who are just using him. One thing I’ve learned from my experiences is that we shouldn’t hate people just because we want to or we think they’re not worth the praises. We should try and understand, put ourselves in their place so that we can realize what they’re going through.

Hate me all you want, but at the end of the day, you’re just jealous that he’s Manny Pacquiao and you’re… who again?

On Meeting Local Celebrities

On Thursday, my mom and I went to GMA-71. Our agenda was on the radio station because mom had to deliver the items that Tito Orly and Tita Norilyn asked her to buy form the States. On the monitoring TV, i saw that the program SIS was on live. I told my mom that i’d head to the studio to see if i can get a chance to say to tita Gelli. Our other friend, Ate Susan2 was there, so i didn’t have to worry about the guard keeping me out. Since the show was live, i was in the dressing room and ate Susan asked me if i wanted to watch, i said, “no, it’s ok. We’re kind of in a hurry anyway. I was just checking if i had the chance.” She then asked me if i wanted to get my picture taken with some of the local celebs in the other room. And i said, why not? :D

On the other room was Aljur Abrenica, Paolo Ballesteros, Luis Alandy, and Marco Alcaraz. They were there representing “Dyesebel”, the local version of “The Little Mermaid”, the show was ending and they were there to invite the viewers to watch out for their last episode which was to air on the next night, Friday.

I had a little chat with Aljur because he met my mom previously and they found out that his uncle and my mom were colleagues. Small world. :) Anyway, i introduced myself and asked if i could have my picture taken with him, he obliged. He’s so good looking in person. No wonder the girls are all screaming for him. He’s not that telegenic, he photographs pretty good, but he’s best in person. He’s a nice guy too. He even asked my name. I told him to remember who i am because this wasn’t the first and last time we’d meet. LOL.

Then i had my picture taken with the other 3 guys who were pretty nice too. I think i like Marco Alcaraz. :)

Gawd! I’m so ugly in the photos. Ew.

On Friday i met Jasmine V. She’s not really a local, but she’s half-Filipina, so…

She’s the girl who sang the “Star Spangled Banner” on Manny Pacquiao’s latest fight. She’s so cute, charming, and pleasant! She’s only 14, so young! Her mom was nice too, she gave me a picture card which has Jasmine’s website and myspace. I’m checking them out now. :)

As usual, i’m ugleeeh!
