Dec. 30: i went to the grocery and bought the ingredients i needed for the Shepherd’s pie i planned to make. I found the recipe on “Good Housekeeping’s easy everyday meals” recipe book that mom got me a year or two ago. I doubled the ingredients because there were 13 of us and one serves 4-6 people.
2 kilos ground beef
1 kilo potatoes
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
2 cups cheese
I also planned to make a cheesecake. But cream cheese is expensive so i bought one that i can make just for me and mom. I brought ingredients for a Fiesta Float1 instead.
1 200g graham crackers; i got the crushed graham instead
1 can fiesta fruit cocktail
2 250ml all purpose cream
1 can condensed milk
Sorry, i can’t remember the exact net content of each ingredient.
I made the Fiesta Float when i got home because i wanted to chill it over night. I also wanted to prepare the ingredients for the Shepherd’s pie, but we had no space in our fridge, so i just prepared the potatoes.
Dec. 31: I woke up around noon and went to church to get my car. With all the people playing with firecrackers, i didn’t want to walk around the neighborhood. This was a fun day because i got to practice driving around the neighborhood and even had some of my cousins as my passengers.
Around 3pm, with Sarah in the house, we started making the Shepherd’s pie. It was nice to have an “assistant” around because i had some help, and didn’t panic when things got a little out of hand. She helped with cooking the beef, and she grated the cheese and spread it. I washed the dishes. x.x
We successfully finished making the pie and told mom to bake it. LOL. Then we left and brought stuff to church and went back home, and just literally went around.
Here’s the thumbnail of the finished product. Click it for larger view.
At around 6pm, we were in church and they prepared the tables and chairs. Then at around 7pm, we had dinner.
Everyone was hungry, and they all liked my Shepherd’s pie even if some sides were kind of burnt. Of course the other food were delicious too! My aunt’s tetrazinni was good, and so was the caldereta Ate Ching made. The chicken were brought by my cousin, and the biggest chicken of them all was imported by my mom from the States.
After wards, we just hanged out, watched DVD2, then went up the church to see all the fireworks at 12 midnight.
Jan. 1: Mom and i planned to go to Quiapo and bring the dogs with us. Since it was a Holiday, we thought that there would be less people out. We were kind of right, but the stores in Quiapo were closed, so we headed to Mall of Asia instead. Boy, all the people were there! But it was fun, people were happy to see our pugs walking around. And Kendo was unleashed which made it uber cute and funny.
What sucks is that i didn’t bring my camera with me. So i tried to take pictures via my cellphone. I should never leave the house without my camera again.

It wasn’t only till July 2008 that I met him face to face. It was on his victory party at Gov. Chavit’s house. Manny is really nice, just as what my mom has told me. He’s also a joker. He likes to joke a lot which people mistake as being arrogant. He tries to speak in English because he wants to speak better. Practice makes perfect. And yet, people still see that as being a trying hard, arrogant bastard.
