Happy New Year!!!

Dec. 30: i went to the grocery and bought the ingredients i needed for the Shepherd’s pie i planned to make. I found the recipe on “Good Housekeeping’s easy everyday meals” recipe book that mom got me a year or two ago. I doubled the ingredients because there were 13 of us and one serves 4-6 people.

2 kilos ground beef
1 kilo potatoes
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
2 cups cheese

I also planned to make a cheesecake. But cream cheese is expensive so i bought one that i can make just for me and mom. I brought ingredients for a Fiesta Float1 instead.

1 200g graham crackers; i got the crushed graham instead
1 can fiesta fruit cocktail
2 250ml all purpose cream
1 can condensed milk

Sorry, i can’t remember the exact net content of each ingredient.

I made the Fiesta Float when i got home because i wanted to chill it over night. I also wanted to prepare the ingredients for the Shepherd’s pie, but we had no space in our fridge, so i just prepared the potatoes.

Dec. 31: I woke up around noon and went to church to get my car. With all the people playing with firecrackers, i didn’t want to walk around the neighborhood. This was a fun day because i got to practice driving around the neighborhood and even had some of my cousins as my passengers.

Around 3pm, with Sarah in the house, we started making the Shepherd’s pie. It was nice to have an “assistant” around because i had some help, and didn’t panic when things got a little out of hand. She helped with cooking the beef, and she grated the cheese and spread it. I washed the dishes. x.x

We successfully finished making the pie and told mom to bake it. LOL. Then we left and brought stuff to church and went back home, and just literally went around.

Here’s the thumbnail of the finished product. Click it for larger view. :)

At around 6pm, we were in church and they prepared the tables and chairs. Then at around 7pm, we had dinner.

Everyone was hungry, and they all liked my Shepherd’s pie even if some sides were kind of burnt. Of course the other food were delicious too! My aunt’s tetrazinni was good, and so was the caldereta Ate Ching made. The chicken were brought by my cousin, and the biggest chicken of them all was imported by my mom from the States.

After wards, we just hanged out, watched DVD2, then went up the church to see all the fireworks at 12 midnight.

Jan. 1: Mom and i planned to go to Quiapo and bring the dogs with us. Since it was a Holiday, we thought that there would be less people out. We were kind of right, but the stores in Quiapo were closed, so we headed to Mall of Asia instead. Boy, all the people were there! But it was fun, people were happy to see our pugs walking around. And Kendo was unleashed which made it uber cute and funny.

What sucks is that i didn’t bring my camera with me. So i tried to take pictures via my cellphone. I should never leave the house without my camera again. :(

New Year in 2 days

Due to my hectic December schedule, I failed to blog. It sucks because i am often online anyway. But since I’m easily distracted, I have been preoccupied with my accounts all over the world wide web.

I deleted my old facebook account and made a new one. Why? Because the old one is so messy and I’d rather not waste my time fixing it and getting rid of everything. Plus it’s always better to start all over again.

My time is wasted playing Playfish games like Pet Society, GEO challenge, and Who has the biggest brain? They’re so much fun!

Anyway, as the title says, New Year is 2 days away. I hope i could write a year end entry. But we’ll be having a new years party. Just mom and I, her older brother’s family, and the Evia family, since we’re holding it near the church. I guess my ninang is invited too. I plan to make something, like a dessert maybe.

Wish me luck!

just a quick one

So i haven’t blogged in a while. Things had been hectic with school and then with Manny winning his last fight, there had been parties/dinners to attend. I have neglected a lot of things i should have done, which i need to do during this vacation. Since thesis is over, i won’t be as stressed as i was this semester.

Yesterday was the Church Christmas party, which was short but still fun. I took videos of the presentations and i’ll be posting them in my multiply account, and maybe blog about it when i remember.

Anyway, i have to go, just did a quick update and so excited in editing/uploading pictures.

Ciao!

my thoughts on Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao won his fight against DeLa Hoya today. I know there are people who don’t like him for different reasons. Some just don’t like him, others hate “what he has become”. I respect everyone’s opinion. I just want to share my thoughts. I don’t have to please anybody and so do you. I’m not expecting you to understand but what I will write here are just my experiences with the short times I have had with Manny.

My mom is a flight attendant and has had local and foreign celebrities as her passengers. She told me about Manny the first time he was on the same plane with her. She said she felt like this man is going to be big someday and so she took the opportunity to have her picture taken with him. If I’m right, that was 2003(?)

Anyway, over the years, mom communicates with Manny or Jinky from time to time. She is considered a friend because she has been nothing but. Not because he’s rich and famous but mom has befriended them even before Manny was famous.

me and Manny Pacquiao 2008 It wasn’t only till July 2008 that I met him face to face. It was on his victory party at Gov. Chavit’s house. Manny is really nice, just as what my mom has told me. He’s also a joker. He likes to joke a lot which people mistake as being arrogant. He tries to speak in English because he wants to speak better. Practice makes perfect. And yet, people still see that as being a trying hard, arrogant bastard.

Everyone is arrogant from time to time. And with Manny’s achievements, I think he has the right to be arrogant. He has brought a lot of glory for the country and I think it’s fair enough to let him be proud of it.

He’s just a person like everyone else. He’s just good at what he does and he deserves all that he has today. If you hate him because he’s arrogant, hate the people around him who are just using him. One thing I’ve learned from my experiences is that we shouldn’t hate people just because we want to or we think they’re not worth the praises. We should try and understand, put ourselves in their place so that we can realize what they’re going through.

Hate me all you want, but at the end of the day, you’re just jealous that he’s Manny Pacquiao and you’re… who again?

switched hosts

I just switched hosts again, for the 3rd time this year, i think. The previous free hosting was enough for my needs but i was bothered at how when i first moved that i was not able to access my sites and when i asked my host about it, she said that my ISP may be blocked and encouraged me to get OpenDNS. So i did, and a few weeks later, i realized that some people don’t see my blogsite and i can’t ask everyone to get OpenDNS, right?

And then i found out that my domain registrar has hosting packages. For $2/month, i can have 500mb disk space, 25gb bandwidth, and unlimited features. It’s more than enough for what i needed. I can’t advertise the hosting because right now he is busy and he can’t accomodate everyone. But then after i purchased the $2 package, i found a host that offers $5/year package that has 5gb disk space and unmetered bandwidth! That is one hellovah deal, but at the moment that is too much for me. I don’t wanna go buying hosts again and not having the time working on it. So.. the $2/month package will do. For now. :)

Since i just switched homes again, i haven’t fixed everything yet. I’m not sure if everything is where they should be and i can’t lookattend to them right now because i have tons of things to do. So..

Bye!
