This is the obligatory year-end blog post that was supposed to be published on the 31st of December but I didn’t have time to finish it. So once again I’ll say, better late than never. I didn’t intended to do this but I thought, “Hey! Might as well come up with a summary of things that happened this past year”. Entries like these usually come with links to posts and/or pictures, but I wasn’t exactly blogging as much this year so I figured I’ll just summarize my year with the help of my Instagram pictures.
Looking back at my archive, I only wrote one post and it was more or less a recap of things that I failed to write about since getting a job. Things haven’t changed, obviously, and I’m still backlogged with stories and ideas that I want to write about.
January was the most stressful month for me as I needed to do something for my job, which I was fairly new at. I had no idea how to accomplish the task I was asked to do but I went on with it. I think I cried 2 or 3 times during the whole ordeal of submitting the Annual Calendar on time. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING. There were times when I wanted to give up but thankfully, I became great friends with the former LSM/receptionist and she cheered me on. My instagram feed is full of vanity shots of myself or of myself with my dogs, or just my dogs. Oh, and food. Since I was usually stressed, I had a lot of comfort food.
I still didn’t write anything back then. I remember being so busy with work that I don’t even get to go online as much. Travel time to and from work was about 2 hours and by the time I get home, I’d just go to sleep. Of course there was the occasional TV watching and trying to squeeze in time for reading, but sleep is more important.
This was when I got really, really close with Faye that I called her my best friend. We could talk about anything, and I mean ANY THING, without judging each other. We handled functions together and hanged out a lot after work. I love her to bits. <3
Still no updates. LOL. I remember March was when we had our Sales Rally in Subic. It was my first and I think it was awesome even though it was a whole day — very exhausting — affair. We left Manila around 5 or 6am and got back the next day at about 1am. It was really fun. I remember wanting to write about the experience but never got the chance to, as usual. There’s even a video of one of the games that we played there. Oh well. Holy Week happened to fall on March, we had 2 days off from work and so we had an outing in a resort in Cavite. It was fun, although it would have been better if it was a private place.
April was when I moved from Blogger to WordPress. One of the reasons was that Blogger deleted my book blog, Night Owl Reads, and it really pissed me off. During my absence in blogging at my personal space, I was off in my niche blogging about books and spreading the word about indie authors. Again, thanks to Dre for hosting me. April also happens to be one of the saddest month in my life as one of my favorite puppies died. Stevie accidentally got killed in a ramble while I was at work and mom was away. She got home and found him barely breathing near the gate. She said it was like he was waiting for her to come home because a few minutes after she washed him and tried to save his life, he passed away. I truly miss him so. He was one of the cutest little things we ever had.
We also had to let go of Sydney. As much as I didn’t want to give her away, we had to do it because we simply couldn’t take care of them all. She was the prettiest shih-pug we had. She looks just like Kendo.
I experienced my second catering stint for Senatorial candidate Ramon Magsaysay Jr. The first was in March when they had an office blessing for their HQ in Pasay. The second one was for a political ad shoot with actor Dingdong Dantes. It was a very good experience, I definitely learned a lot from handling the catering gig on my own. As if April wasn’t busy enough, it was also when we started our Sales Blitz. We went to different Gerry’s Grill branches to market it in local businesses. It was scheduled from April till May. There was supposed to be a blog post dedicated to it, but as usual, I didn’t get around to writing it down. It’s still in the drafts.
Here’s the video I made comprised of pictures from our Sales Blitz in April-May 2013. We covered Nuvali, Tagaytay, Makati, Bicutan, Alabang, Quezon City, Pasay, Silver City (Pasig), Marikina, Baliuag (Bulacan), Subic, Batangas, and Pampanga. Part of our sales blitz also covered Cavite area, Cubao, Greenhills, and Manila area, but I wasn’t part of that group.
My small group and I went to Cornerstone Pottery Farm in Silang Cavite. It was such a wonderful experience. It’s something I never thought I’d actually get to do, but because of my small group of single ladies we got to do it. We all made a mug, although I haven’t gotten mine. (Paging Melissa! *wink* *wink*) We plan to go again, but with our busy schedules, who knows when it will push through.
We also went to a place called Tootsie’s where we enjoyed a hearty lunch. The place was cozy and the food was great. I just wish we had more time for more adventures, unfortunately, we had to return to Manila before dinner.
Like me, my grandmother was born in the month of May. Since we haven’t been to our hometown in 3 years, mom and I decided to visit my grandma on her 73rd birthday. She was so glad to see us again after all these time. It was quite the reunion. To celebrate my birthday, mom and I, along with a colleague and her sister and nieces, went to Broadway Centrum to watch The Ryzza Mae Show live! The little girl is so cute and playful. She’s soooo small too! No pictures with her, though.
I don’t have any significant photos in my Instagram account from June. It’s all food and dogs and throwback photos. If I’m not mistaken, June was scheduled for the Delivery Caravan. All outlets with delivery segments did a motorcade in their respective RTAs to hopefully increase awareness and delivery sales. I have no pictures in Facebook either. Guess I was too busy with life and word to document it. Another work related thing I did for June was do house to house flyering. I walked to and from everywhere. I lost a lot of weight, I assume. Since I got an acoustic guitar for my birthday last May, I started practicing playing again. I even went as far as recording myself singing while playing the guitar. XD
Wow. I have no clear recollection of anything significant happening in July. Only that there were some changes and that I had to choose between staying in my current branch or transfer to Alabang. It was a tough decision, believe me.
Yes. I opted to transfer to Alabang. It’s more practical as it’s nearer where I live, and change is part of growth. I decided to “grow”. Just after a few days of stay in Alabang, I was already invited to a birthday outing. No pictures on Instagram, though.
It was also in August that all company owned LSMs were pulled out to assist in the company’s biggest catering event of the year. It was the grand launch of Globe Towers in Bonifacio Global City. We catered to 3,000 guests. It was quite an experience. Some of our team were already at the venue at 11am or earlier, while I was told to be there at 2pm. We had 3 buffet tables which opened at 6pm, and served all the people for 2 hours straight. That was the easy part. The hard part was egress. My fellow female LSMs and I stayed at the venue making sure we collected everything we brought up till 3am! It was an exhausting but rewarding experience.
I handled the biggest function I have ever booked in my 1st year as an LSM. It was an event for San Beda College Alabang with 150pax. We had to close the main dining and function room to accommodate all guests and had 2 buffets set up.
It’s been a while since I brought Kendo with me to the mall, so I took him out one day in October. He had so much fun. <3
We worked on the new map so we can keep track where we have streamers installed and which areas we need to work on. We also moved to a new house in October. It’s much nearer to where mom works, father to mine but cheaper transportation expense. And it works for us. The only problem is, the “new” house kinda sucks.
November means it’s time to decorate for Christmas. Something I had no idea what to do, especially since my outlet isn’t easy to decorate. But we made do with what we can.
This is also the month when mom met Derek Ramsay…. And I met Jeric Teng… No contest. Mom won this round. LOL.
December has been good to us. We received a lot of blessings…
We also catered 1000 packed lunch for The Family International. (blog post to follow too. OMGOMG!) It has been a great year full of good and bad experiences but we are blessed to be alive and with an abundance of grace from God. There are more stories to tell but I’ll do that in another day. I have learned a lot in my first year of working and there are still more to learn.
Thank you God for the provision, guidance, wisdom, patience, and strength. May 2014 bring us more blessings.
